I am so sorry to hear Starling passed away he was my neighbor for years before I moved. He was always so kind to me. He would help me get my groceries out of the car or my walker. He would always greet me when I would see him outside getting in his car. He will surely be missed. My prayers are with the family. Nancy Scott Kiser

Dexter, I just read of the passing of your brother and am very sorry for your loss. I remember our days together at Pinecrest High School and of a visit you made to my office one summer at Sandhills Community College a few years ago. Your family has been an important part of the life of Southern Pines. It is my loss, I am sure, that I never got to know your brother. I see that he was a veteran of the United States Army, as were my mother and father, all four of my mother's brothers, and my father's brother and sister. - In that, I also feel some kinship with your brother. I saw also in the obituary that your sister Connie preceded him. I also remember meeting her at your home back in your high school days. Take care of yourself. Rick Lewis
