Pastor Paschal Anthony McNair

Paschal Anthony McNair, age 72, was born August 8, 1949, in Pinehurst, North Carolina, to the late John Preston and Hattie Bell McNair.  He departed this life on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at twelve o’clock noon, at FirstHealth/Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Paschal’s educational path included attending Academy Heights School and graduating from Pinehurst High School in Southern Pines, North Carolina. He continued his education at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, earning an Associate Degree as a General Education major.

As an Ordained Minister, Paschal served as the Pastor of Cedar Grove Church in West End, North Carolina for twenty-four years.  He also served in the United States Army and the National Guard for twenty-one and one-half years, from which he retired.  He was also a former Civic Club President for the community.  He was employed at West Point Stevens in Wagram, North Carolina, as a Lab Technician, from which he also retired.  He served as a substitute teacher in the Moore County School System.

As a devoted man of God, Reverend McNair loved everyone.  One of the real joys for Paschal was spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.  He also truly loved his church family and his many clergy friends.

Reverend McNair was united in holy matrimony to Diane Chambers, and to this union, three children were born.  Those left with many fond memories of Pastor McNair are, his wife of fifty-two years, Diane McNair; two daughters, Angela McNeill (Marvin) and Karen Henderson of West End, NC; one son, Paschal “Tony” McNair, Jr. (Paulette) of Aberdeen, NC; three sisters, Corina McNair, Wanda Patterson (Ron) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Marcell Campbell of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a niece, “Nikki”, and a nephew, Marcus, who Paschal help raise after the death of their mother; one aunt, Hazel Lean of Laurinburg, NC; four sisters-in-law; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends.

In addition to his late parents, Paschal was preceded in death by his five brothers, James Preston, Daniel, Calvert, Reginald, and Lyn Colon.
