Mrs. Laverne Hallman, 76, of Vass, North Carolina, formerly of Southern Pines, North Carolina, died Friday, February 5, 2021, at her home in Vass.

Mrs. Hallman was a native of Southern Pines, North Carolina, and she attended Pinckney High School.  Her education was continued at Sandhills Community College, where she received an associate degree in Cosmetology, Nursing, and Business Administration.  While a member of the Peace Corp organization, Laverne spent time in Thailand. She was a youth counselor with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety at the Samarcand Manor location, from which she retired.

Survivors:  Son, Michael McClellan; brothers, Freddy McClellan and Apostle Dr. Robert Lee McClellan; sisters, Juliene Goins, Darlene Morning, and Carrie Gibson; nephew, with whom she lived, Reverend Fred Goins, Jr. and his wife, Evelyn; also a host of other nieces, nephews, and other family members.
