Debora Henderson Gaines departed her earthly life Thursday May 13, 2021 in Brooklyn, New York.  She was born April 27, 1953, in Lakeview, North Carolina, to Johnnie and Bessie Henderson.

After graduating from Union Pines High School, Debora headed for the bright lights in the Big Apple to pursue her dreams.  After working for various companies, she started baking for others and creating different pastries.  Debora was on a quest to pursue her ultimate dream, which she did accomplish.  In 2003, Debora became the Founder and CEO of Debbie’s Sweet Treats. During Debora’s years in business, she had the esteemed honor of baking for various celebrity clients, such as Joel Osteen, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Ashford & Simpson, and others. Debora was known for sweet potato muffins, which became her signature dessert. As Debora would always say, “Your table is not complete without some Debbie’s Sweet Treats.  

On October 4, 2007, Debora married her soulmate, Sidney Gaines.  He was a devoted husband and the love of her life.  As a kindhearted and giving person, Debora was always willing to lend a helping hand. She will truly be missed. 

Those left with many fond memories of Debora are, her devoted husband, Sidney Gaines; her five siblings, Larry Henderson (Sandy), Barbara McLeod, Carolyn Scott (Kenneth), Rhonda Crawford, and Johnnie Linda Henderson; six nieces and nephews, Todd, Anthony, Kymberli, Keisha, Latoya, and Lauren; twelve great-nieces and nephews, Jordan, Davon, Tyler, Ron Anthony Jr, Kristopher, Christian, Ava, Amari, Dylan, Londyn, Lailah, and DJ; other relatives, and many dear friends.

Debora was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Bessie Henderson.
