
Mr. James W. Mitchell
James W. Mitchell of Aberdeen, North Carolina, passed on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the age of seventy-eight, after an extended illness.
As a native of Johnsonville, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Willis and Rosa W. Mitchell. He was a 1962 graduate of Battery Park High School in Nesmith, South Carolina. During that same year, James married the love of his life, Carrie M. Mitchell. They moved from South Carolina to Aberdeen, North Carolina, in 1965.
Mr. Mitchell was a proud government employee and retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections/Public Safety in 1999. Over the years, he was active in his community as a faithful member of Shady Grove Holiness Church in Aberdeen, and he was a dedicated member of Masonic Lodge #322 in Wagram, North Carolina.
Mr. Mitchell leaves to cherish fond memories of him, a loving wife, Carrie, of the home, who cared for him during his illness and stood by his side to the very end; his siblings, William Mitchell and Rosa Lee Davis, both of Johnsonville, SC; three daughters, Linda Mitchell-Frye (Wayne) of Laurel Hill, NC, Catherine Denise Murray (Stanley) of Midland, NC, and Teresa Mitchell Bethel (John) of Augusta, GA; two sons, Chris Mitchell (Stephanie) of Fredericksburg, VA, and John Hannah of South Carolina; thirteen grandchildren; other relatives and dear friends.
Entombment followed at Pinelawn Memorial Park, in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
