I briefly knew of Ernest over the last 15 years became of our love of golf. I never had the pleasure of playing a round with Mr. Singletary. We would see each other periodically at the Campbell House?s practice field. Before I got 100 yards from field I knew the person hitting golfballs was ?Singletary?, because of his unique golf swing (compacted and quick, but repeatable). I?d yelled to him,? you?re a ?machine!? Singletary, he would laugh with his low raspy voice and say ?no way, I gotta practice practice and practice...?. We would temporarily exchange clubs to determine if it was the clubs that that made the golfer and to no surprise we?d laugh and agreed ?it ain?t the clubs...?. Life is so simply wonderful, I never knew Singletary, except for those days at the Campbell House, but for reasons unexplainable, I enjoyed the brief time spent and If there?s a heaven he?s asking Peter if there?s a practice field, cause ?I gotta practice, practice and prac! tice...
