Mrs. Lila Mae Brown Gay was born October 7, 1920, in Barnell County, South Carolina, to the late Ida and Hammond Brown.  She departed this life June 21, 2020, at the age of ninety-nine at her home in Southern Pines, North Carolina.

Reading the Holy Bible was one of Mrs. Gay’s favorite things to do, and she was a longtime member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Southern Pines. Spending time with her grandchildren was also at the top of her list, as well as playing board games, fishing, and playing Bingo.  The fun times with Granny will be greatly missed.

Those left with fond memories of Mrs. Gay are her three grandsons, Gary Brown Sr. and Antonio "Tony" Brown, both of Southern Pines, North Carolina, and Berry Brown (Michelle) of Raleigh, North Carolina; five great-great grandchildren, Cassie Brown, Gary Brown, Jr., Wendell Brown, Michael Brown and Kereem Terry; a host of great-great grandchildren; other relatives, and dear friends.
